Dr-Ken-BarnesDr. Kenneth Barnes, Mockler-Phillips Professor of Workplace Theology and Business Ethics, published an essay for Eventide Center for Faith & Investing that explores biblical perspectives on wealth and how we can be obedient to God with our financial resources.

Surveying Old and New Testament passages that highlight a range of perspectives, Dr. Barnes concludes by sharing two principles from the Apostle Paul’s teachings that answer how Christians should think about their wealth and conduct business and investing activities: work as worship and Christian non-conformity. “If Christians truly believe the words of Scripture,” says Dr. Barnes, “then perhaps we should view our economic activities as acts of worship—putting the glory of God and obedience to His sovereign will at the forefront of everything we do.”
