Dr. Flores Wins Award and Publishes New Book
Congratulations to Dr. Daniel Flores, senior librarian and associate professor of Wesleyan studies, on his recent book award and new publication!
Respectable Methodism: Nathan Bangs and Respectability in Nineteenth-Century American Methodism, which Dr. Flores published with Cascade (Wipf and Stock) in 2023, received the 2024 Saddlebag Award from the Historical Society of the United Methodist Church. This award recognizes outstanding books on United Methodist history or related subjects published each year.
This spring, Dr. Flores also published Word and Light: The Religious Awakening of John and Charles Wesley. He says, “Through a historical and theological journey, this book explores the impact of Methodism on the spiritual renewal of the 18th century, highlighting the Wesley brothers’ passion for living faith, preaching, and social transformation.” Word and Light was crafted for individual readers, Bible studies, and discussion groups interested in Wesleyan spirituality and how it can give a new dimension to one’s faith.
