The Tangled Nature of Technology and the Preacher

The Tangled Nature of Technology and the Preacher

On July 4, 2021, the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, Jr., the pastor of New Season Church in Sacramento, California, delivered his Sunday morning sermon to worshippers at City Impact Church in Auckland, New Zealand—but he was not in Auckland, New Zealand; he was in Sacramento, California.”

The Seal of the King

The Seal of the King

The prophecy anticipates Jesus, born King of the Jews, whose star drew magi from the East to Bethlehem (Matt. 2:1–11). Yet Balaam’s star and scepter were not the Bible’s first signs of the coming King. Those roots reach back into Genesis.

The Lament of the King

The Lament of the King

Most Christians are familiar with Jesus’s famous cry of dereliction from the cross. Many are aware that these words, cried aloud in Aramaic, are drawn directly from the first line of Psalm 22. Less realize how thoroughly Matthew’s account of the crucifixion is tied to the psalm or the ways in which his gospel is shaped by lament.

We are prayerfully reimagining the seminary in a way that allows us to expand our reach and better fulfill our mission for God’s glory. Learn about initiatives for our residential, online, and urban programs—and more! (Updated September 2026)
