Biography:
Dr. Lytvynenko’s specialty in Historical Theology is focused on Patristic and Medieval Slavonic studies. He has a special interest in the reception of patristic doctrine of the Trinity and Christology in the Old Slavonic tradition from the 9th to 17th centuries.
His book Athanasius of Alexandria, Oration II contra Arianos: Old Slavonic Version and English Translation is one of his three-volume work that explores the reception of Athanasius of Alexandria (d. 373 A.D.) in the Medieval Slavonic tradition. It provides the text of his main theological work, Orations against the Arians, in the Slavonic translation and discusses the origin and history of this writing. His current project is the Trinitarian polemic in sixteenth-century Russia, and he is preparing a critical edition of the theological texts of the most illustrious theologian of that time, Zinoviy Otenskiy (d. 1568 A.D.). He also works with medieval manuscripts in Central and Eastern Europe and seeks to make forgotten Christian texts available in the English translation.
Dr. Lytvynenko teaches Church History to the Reformation, Theology Survey I, and Introduction to Theological Research. He is a Global Scholar missionary based in Prague, Czech Republic.
He is married to Oksana Lytvynenko, and they have three adult children.
